I got a couple of these and it straight up smells wonderful, like when you walk in the dining room and you catch your wife dusting with lemon pledge. Wow wonderful. Hard to split though. That's needing some hydraulics there.
Yes here we call it lemon scented gum. I cut one down for my parents last year and the smell coming off the saw was fantastic, it's my favourite smelling fire wood. Witchetty grubs in my lemon scented gum. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I had a question to ask you earlier thinking about this post. Forgot about it but I'll ask how long until seasoned? Best that I burn this outside?
Well down here I would say 12 months but we get very hot and dry summers. I would suggest with your climate at least 2 years should be good then. There is absolutely no reason why you can't burn it in an indoor stove. I predominantly burn eucalyptus to heat my house as do most Aussies that heat with wood. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Eucalyptus is good firewood. Burn that inside. But get some hydraulics to help get it seasoning first.
I split all this by hand last year! I do at times think about getting hydraulics, there was one particularly frustrating day when I would have definitely purchased one. It was a Sunday and all the shops that have the good stuff, were closed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I will probably put this through the splitter when i rent it. That was a little bit difficult. The round bounced as I hit it. No give.
Well you folks down there have ways of making wood crack open just by holding the ax. I'll do some work on it, should be worth it in the long run, as long as I don't lose sight of it. Got a lot of variety around here and mismatched rounds.
Yep that is what I do, but when you have a bunch of saws it is fun picking a different one each time. I was noodling some curly maple today and I was surprised at how tough that stuff is. Of course I did not know it was curly maple until I noodled it.
