I just booked a trip for July 3-7 at Carters Cave in Kentucky and I'm hoping to get Memorial day booked at Beech Fork West Virginia as soon as they open the online reservations up. Kayaking right off of our lake view site
Didn't used to be mine either....... I was a big time tent camper and then we moved to a popup. Then bought the truck and upgraded to a 18ft camper and then to this as our camping changed a lot. We make lots of trips to lake erie to fish and it sure is nice to be able to have all the gear loaded and ready to go at the drop of a hat. I pull in late at night drop the camper and can fish all day and the wife is comfortable and happy. I gotta say it sure is nice when it's pouring outside or snowing as it is many times early in the fishing season. The truck doesn't even know it's there I pull through the mountains in WV and PA all the time with no issues whatsoever. Set the cruise and let it go. We go for a week at a time and I'm not ready to come home at the end. If it was up to me I would have a truck camper in the bed and pull a boat but the family likes it and we have a good time and we use it for our vacations so I like it it.
Comfort camping ! I like going way out remote for miles. & staying in a cabin . I'll leave the 7 day sheep & goat hunting back pack trips to the younger crowd now. Good memories though, but the memories make me seek out comfort camping.
Come on post up the camping pics! Tents, pop ups, whatever I know you have them..... I need signs of spring and things to make me happy I know some of you live in way more gorgeous places then we do! I know it sounds weird but we have never even camped at a full hook up campground ever. 80% of the time we have electric and that's about it. When we go camping in the Smoky Mountains or boondocking we don't even have that it's just a site and I use a solar panel to charge the battery which keeps the fridge cool.
Used to do 4 day trips out into WV for trout fishing and we packed it all in on our backs and packed it out. Back issues now make it hard for me to hike that far with all the weight not to mention sleeping on the ground and after doing it I now wake up and it takes me until noon to be able to move.
Lot of folks here pull the boat behind the camper. Can pull tandem trailer as long as the front trailer is a 5th wheel.
Well I don't have a boat so the kayaks will have to do for now. I probably won't be getting a boat anytime soon either. I used to ride motorcycles all the time and had quite a few of them but After getting in the bad wreck I sold them all off and used the money to buy the camper as I wanted a more family friendly activity at we could all be involved in. I don't regret the getting rid of the bikes as my daughter looks forward to every camping trip and we have made some great memories.
We have a 28 foot bunkhouse TT and just committed to a seasonal site this year at a park with any amenity you can think of including an in ground pool. Sorry, no pics yet.
I am Sooooooo ready! Like you I have progressed into the 30 ft club from a 2 man tent! My camper stays permanent at my lil 5 acre wood lot across the street from 18000 acres of state forest. Basically it's deer camp. Last year I added a 12 x 16 shed for my splitter tools etc that I got tired of hauling weekly. It's a blast but hardly camping lol. This year's project is an outhouse and rain collection system off the shed roof. Food plot on the adjoining neighbors old log deck is also on the agenda. Sounds like work I know but I enjoy every second.
