"OK, its time for the digital exam, just take off your pants."

    "Where should I put them?"

"Over on the chair by mine!"

    24+ years as a Radiographer,,,,,the stories I could tell.
The way these E.R. docs order x-ray, under the guise of "covering their azzes" should be criminal,,,I would bet a lot of it is to generate revenue for the facility.

On the contrary, even though I started this thread, I have not liked it except to let some guys let off some steam and let others know what is happening out there. It also proves there is much more wrong with out health care than the media likes to report.

This is very true. I've been privy to some conversations and meetings where it is spelled right out that most tests are not to diagnose but to generate revenue for the facilities.

Worried about revenue generation and then miss the ones that should have been done, or do not run the second level as a check. All to common.

Around a decade ago my wife had some very serious painful problems. Specialist did a procedure that was extremely painful and afterwards said he doesn't like to over medicate. Then several days later still waiting for a call that was promised the next day with results so we could set up further testing I called. He was going to get the results typed and sent in the mail by Friday. After what my wife told me about procedure and talking to others that had much better medicated experiences elsewhere and immediate results I lost it. Told the doc that this isn't acceptable, he better use that thing called email and get his schtuff sent and now, we don't use pony express here, and you better mix some of the medication you don't use on your patients for yourself because if the hospital doesn't have her results in 15 minutes I am driving up there and going to provide a procedure and I will have results. 10 minutes later hospital called with results they would have gotten 5 days later if I had not provided motivation. Another time and another doctor, after an ER trip the obligatory satisfaction survey call. My wife informed them if either of us were dying and Dr. P was the on duty doctor we will either go to the veterinarian or just croak rather than have his arrogant posterior treat us again after the way we were so poorly/condescendingly attended to and if he was on fire she would pour gas on him. He is unfit as a doctor and we wouldn't let him touch a stray dog let alone a human. Survey taker said she was sorry and she had never had a review like that before-she was an out of state firm hired so didn't know the doctor. Couple years later a couple other doctors quit because of Dr P and his super human attitude.
