We got a little over three feet of snow, which is keeping me out of the woods. Living vicariously through pics and posts this weekend. Anyone else feeling my pain?
Wow thats a dump! Our big snow pack that has been accumulating since November is slowly melting as mild weather has hit the Rockies . I cant walk in the woods without snow shoes as you sink through and its difficult to move. If it is 3 feet of fresh snow its not dense so should melt away quickly allowing you to get back out there. If its been around for awhile you can wait patiently like me waiting for the day you can move around freely.
Yeah. I have about 1/3 cord of red oak and beech that I split last weekend, before that nor'easter hit. It's still waiting to be moved and stacked. I'm hoping to move some of it in the morning, before the next wave of white stuff hits. Not much, but still a nuisance.
Been breaking and packing trails with the sleds. Went from full maple sugar mode back to snowmobile mode! The snow (probably)will only last another few weeks! I had all kinds of projects starting up then it all got burried!
I am watching the melt also. I have to travel for work this week, so I was hoping to split a cord this weekend. It is fresh snow, so it shouldn't stay long. With these longer days I am really burning to smell some two stroke.
I'm planning a drop and chop tomorrow. We've got a foot or so of snow so I'll be hiking in for a standing sick ash. I haven't been in the woods since the storm so I may find some blow down for process. Pics to follow.
I got out today. Took that sick ash. Nice stuff. Then took a little cherry that was leaning hard and not destined for a long and healthy natural life. Lastly, I got into an old blowdown oak that was levitating above the ground so I thought it might be worth a shot. I'd say better than half is worth salvage. It did have snow melt frozen solid in it and took the edge off the chain pretty hard.
Here here no need to turn an ankle or dull a chain But I'm jonesing real bad , the wifes got me painting since I can't cut. Painting man. Painting.
My dad was a contractor painter when I was a kid. Guess what I did summer vacations . I see you're in Poughkeepsie. I work in Middletown area
Was out of town for the weekend and came back to a yard that was about 1/3 snowless! Even the roofs are almost bare! Spring will be here this week.
I hope your right about spring yooper. I'm behind schedule need to start splitting Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Mother nature had different ideas than me in early October when it snowed. Farmer couldn't get his crop off, so I couldn't get to my honey hole of easy access wood, literally the edge of the field. Then I found another spot with decent wood, but harder to get into/out of the location. Pulled one load out and then it snowed. Then we had good melt and nice weather going on, and I run 5-6 loads out of a previous untapped area. I needed a bit to recharge my body, and then we got a dump of snow, and then blizzard conditions for 2 days. If I didn't get those loads, I'd probably have gone insane. Waiting to see if I'll be able to get back in before it turns to muck. But yes, I feel your pain. Not 3 feet of snow everywhere pain, but same boat, different seat lol
I wish we were, season seems to be over here for us and no where near enough snow pack to fill the lakes. I am afraid not much sailing in my future this year. The upside is scrounging has been fruitful all winter long.
