Upgrading an 11 y/o Enviro EF 2 for better exhausting

Hello

We already upgraded the bronze oilite bearing to the best Nylatron bearing with new end plate and a heavy duty Gleason Avery ball bearing motor.

Now for the parts in the left side so pull out the T20 torx screw driver!
These old parts were getting old and weak. The stove could use a little punch so here we did.

1. Replace Honeywell slim vacuum switch with a heavy duty metal Cleveland controls vacuum switch.

The Honeywell was riveted in so we drilled them out and bolted the new vacuum switch in.
Careful where the bolts go to get the back panel on or you can notch the back panel like I did.

2. Replace the mini ceramic low limit Snap disc with a full size heavier snap disc. The hole in the exhaust housing is large enough because the older ef2 stoves had the larger snap disc!
The old torx head bolts for the snap disc lost their holding power so I replaced them with slightly larger stainless steel self tapers not in the pics yet!

3. Replace the old 1.0 amp Jakel open frame exhaust Blower with the new 1.75 amp Gleason Avery heavy duty exhaust blower and a nice quadrafire style impeller blade for better circulation!

Finally put in 3 wire ties to keep the wires away from the hot spots!!!

That fan looks like it will really move some air now...

 

Yes, it is a 1.75 amp open frame exhaust motor with a nice ball bearing and quadrafire style blade which moves the air better at lower heat levels for more complete combustion.

 

I wonder how that fan would work on my st croix?

 

I have installed them in a few St Croix stoves and they work great!

I ordered another versa grate and I am going to drill some of the holes out to 1/4" in diameter to make a wood pellet only high ash versa grate. Then the old grate could still be used for the approved corn/pellet mix that we just very rarely do in this area of the country!
Do you think that will work a lot better??
