I just went for a walk around a piece of property of a buddy's father in law 15 acres. I'm going to help him clean up his property in return for the wood. It's got several decent wood that's either leaning or on the ground that needs to be cut up. It's also got several dead pines that got hit by the beetle that I'm going to take. But the big boy is a (I believe) is a burr oak. I'm going to have to get me my 32" bar for the 660 to try play with on it. Can any positive ID this tree? But there's going to be hedge, hackberry, ash, oak that need to be taken out. Plus a few other variety that I'll need to get ID... Should be fun.
Nice. Whenever I go to my sis-in-law's to cut, I have to figure out where to start, there's so much stuff down and dying. GIBIR
Yup that's Bur Oak.Recognize that uber-thick bark from a mile away.Other Oak bark like Red,White or Black etc. will burn pretty easily after it falls off.But I've never had much luck getting that stuff to flame. One reason the medium & larger trees are moderately fire resistant out in the prairie lands in parts of Nebraska & western Iowa.....
Probably should look into getting another saw just to be safe. Don't want to start a project like that underpowered.
Me too. Plus its only about 15 minutes away with easy access... Should help supplement my other sources....
Just hoping that big oak is still good and solid. Most is still of the ground, it fell a year and half ago.
LOL......... I've been bitten hard by the CAD bug here lately. I think I'll have plenty of fire power.
Yep been there done that, underpowered. It can be done just time consuming... IMO .... But now It looks like I can start utilizing my investments that I've made in the last 2 months....
