I'm about done at this point! This year we've probably had more minus zero nights than we've had in the last 10 years combined around here. My outside thermometer already reads minus for the night, the weather sites say it's 8 right now, either way it's cold again!

I filled the garage rack today(1/3 cord) and had to tap my 4th cord to get the garage filled. Last year I burned just a touch over 3 cords for the full season! I still have 2 weeks of February left!! Looking at the 10 day it looks like we have a few days coming that will allow for some 24 hour burns, I need some of those! At least the stove has been performing great!

Anyway here are a couple shots of the stove with it's belly full of ash.

Well you guys understand now when I read some folks saying in the fall,
wish winter would hurry, I want to burn a hot fire.
I call them crazy ! They got what they asked for this year. LOL :)

Hoping your winters go back to the past 20 year record
& not start a 20 year cycle of repeat of what you are having this year.

We're all on the down hill slide now, lots more sun, days will get in the 20 & 30s, maybe 40s soon.
You can start coasting , the tough part is over.

We're forecast for single digits nights , and 20s for daytime temps.
A little below the norm, but on the warming trend with more & more sunshine.
We only have 6 to 8 more weeks of burn season, well past half way . Seeing the light at
the end of the tunnel :)

Totally understand what you are saying. It was supposed to be 37 here today and it barely hit 28. The low last night was supposed to be 17 and it was 0 this morning. I have just about had enough of his crap. It's definitely the worst winter I can ever remember temperature wise.

Another 3" of snow forecast for here today. It's piling up on the driveway like those large shopping center piles. The ranger had to go thru 1' of snow in the field just to get some more wood up to the house. This year is like the "Perfect Storm" it's not gonna let us go. Threw a tire chain on the plow and now can't find it in the snow piles.

Woke up to -13 on my thermometer and the weather sites said -8, they have forecast for a low of 8! They sure got that wrong!

That sure ain't me asking for winter! I also call those people crazy! I know it will get here sooner or later I see no reason asking for it. :)

I seen a sign driving by a church the other day it said something along the lines of "You prayed for snow, God answered so please stop now!"

Nice load, makes me miss my BK.

We're expecting 6" of snow today then we finally get a break with temps in the 30's for a few days.

17° last night, 22 now. (forecast for high to mid 20s today)
That is "the norm" for this time of the year.

A Nice temperature break coming for a while,
may be the straw that beaks winter's back :)

Now it's time to think of what happens when all that snow melts

Warm here, mid-40's. Snow if melting nicely but shoveling that sludge is getting tough.
    Back to 24 hr. reloads.

Yup, another below zero night last night but that looks like the last one for a few days at least. Went to Lansing today and when we got home I looked at the radar to see where the storm was. We barely made it home ahead of the snow. Happy for that as it came down pretty strong for a while. A bit lighter right now but still looks like I'll be pushing a lot of it around in the morning.

I took some photos earlier today to show my wife. She wasn't amused - said it is -8 F at home tonight and she was not looking forward to feeding the cattle in tomorrow's 3" to 7" of snow.

Calling for 3-6" here by 4 a.m., and we've already got the 3" or very close to it.
    Still coming pretty good.

Almost 24 hrs per load here.
Usually 2 splits for a coal burn-down around 5 PM, then it's time for a full night load.
Drier wood burns longer with more heat output :)

Cold, too cold. but the stove is warm, nice and warm. What's even better is I don't have to go outside. We have 18 bags of pellets lined up to keep us warm. (yes, I'm a pellet pig). One thing about winter. Like death and taxes, it comes and it leaves. I have to be patient and wait it out.

Coldest night of the season here last night according to my thermometer. It records the lowest temp, before last night it was -19, this morning the saved low is -20. It may not have actually been -20 since it seems to read low but either way it's the same thermometer that read -19. Weather.com had us listed at -14 when I got up this morning, we are outside of town so we usually run a bit colder than the weather.com temps.

We got to -14 here. With no wind, though, I woke up to a 76° house :)

After next week, things should be a little easier. Extended forecast doesn't show any big warmup, but at least some moderation.

I can't wait to work in the snow tomorrow. Again
