Well I have been eyeing some downed wood at the beginning of my neighborhood. So decided to go and get some of it today. Im pretty sure its tulip poplar but feel free to correct me if needed.

Obviously I have still not gotten a truck yet. Really slows down the scrounging.

"weirded out by the chainsaw wielding man in the woods"- Strap on a hockey mask, that should be fun!
As far as the wood- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Populus- Once dry, it burns fine.
edit- Aspen is in the same category. Just loaded 4 N/S, with 3 E/W on top. I'm good to go until tomorrow night.

Kind of like the guy on the construction site I was on about 15 years ago with a S10 truck. He wanted the about 4' diameter by 6' long granite boulder loaded in his truck to take home. So the excavator operator loaded it in the bed for him. It was about a 6 month old truck that was quickly folded in half.

I still remember the operator saying "you're sure you want that in your truck. Ok I'll put it in there for you." :D  o_O :(

Back in 1974 I started out with a 1969 International Scout. You couldn't get much in the bed of it either, but I got 'er done'. Oh, and my 12 in. Poulan. I was poor and all I could aford. But I was young and it didn't seem to matter. My family was warm and I provided for them no matter what.

I mean if all I had was a car I think id get a trailer. Even if it was one of those harbor freight ones that I fabricated sides for.
