Here in western NY we had a windstorm on Wednesday - clocked gusts of 81mph. Lots of trees down, that means lots of power lines down\broken. Currently (Friday afternoon) The 5 county area around Rochester has ~125,000 homes without power. It's being worked - they now estimate 90% restoration by late Sunday.

I did not loose power at home but we lost power at work Wednesday afternoon, still not back on - so I've had the past two days off - nice but unpaid -.

Well... with work close and lots of trees down - guess what I've been upto? Yup - harvesting wood. Attached is a pic of what I've got the past two days - mostly Maple, but also a bit of Black Locust. Exclude the stuff in the rack - that is some of next years fuel. Also included a pic of my new wood hawler - got it Monday. Graduated up from a hatchback - SO much nicer to gather wood with.

Ya we had high winds in sw Ontario not that bad and I have permission to take wood from 5 different Bushes as long as the trees are on the ground. Well I got lots of new trees downed! And nice scores!

I was at my doctor's office yesterday for a routine check and was telling the nurse I had been cutting trees. She told me she had about 18 ash in her farm yard that were infested with EAB if I wanted to just come over and get them. I had to tell her I had about 1000 of my own at about 8 inches dbh that I needed to deal with first.
