Guess my title states most of it, she has months to live. Old enough that I do not want to expose her to the perils of the internet as she already got scammed by a fake lottery guy that said he loved her. I'd like her to have long distance calling at her disposal and facetime with preapproved people. Any guidance? Last time I called Verizon a few years ago they did not have any solutions for me. Thanks!
How about a wifi tablet and FT orDuo? Or a tablet that is data/phone (I'm typing that wrong, sorry) enabled with either of the above apps? Just spit balling....
Just use Skype. I use it for work and home. Almost daily on several devices, including Apple (when I must). Corn-fed, Iowa bred.
Thanks guys, I'm afraid I have not heard of what you mentioned Eric VW , and I could do Skype, but I need to get grandma a device to skype with "parental controls". Sorry, guess I need elementary tech advice. PS, she is in a "care home" til the end.
I spoke to the nursing home, between what you all have suggested and what the staff there can help her with I can get something done. Phone call sched for tomorrow with social/activity staff at nursing home, thanks so much friends.
I'll let you know what we figure out. I know there are "parental control" apps, just need to figure out the right ones. I want her to be able to dial her older sister who is also in a long term care home the is close by but long distance, or any of her other friends or relatives (but not fake lottery phishing men lol). Guess I need an app I can control remotely, as I am in wy and she is in CA. I'll figure it out, she deserves it!
