IMG_20170305_175922972.jpg IMG_20170305_175916626.jpg so i came across this in the bush. It was a fallen tree right next to a signed silver maple. The bush is wet. Didn't think it was ash.

If there were darker parts of the heart wood, I'd say it looks like hickory. Is all the wood that light color?

Are there any other pieces or pics?

I split a few rounds all that light wood straight through no other colour in the heart wood. No other pics if I get back to the bush tomorrow I can get a pic of the tree.

Snap a pick of the end of a round.
Ask will have what looks like a "pin hole" in the center

I think I like Lukem's suggestion after looking closer.
It does look more like pine.

What does it smell like? Hemlock is too orange of a color here in washington. I recently split some douglas fir, it was just white like that but as they started to dry more, the color orange came more into the heartwood. How well did it split? those fibers looks like a pine.

That bark looks a lot like Hickory but the split looks conifer like, I'm confused
