I like real computers, but emulators can scratch the itch. Here is my Dos 6.22/Win 3.11 setup on DosBox.
From one techie to another, tip of the hat to ya. That would be retro, fer sure. Can you provision a Commodore 64??
It was a whole new world. Btw, the Commodore 128D and an IBM AT just arrived. They wilk get a good cleaning tomorrow.
My first comp was a Texas Instruments....TI-99/4A Ahhhhh the days of basic! Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
Saving programs to cassette VB tapes. We had the expansion box as well. Also the 300 baud phone handset cradle modem, which I used to access my first BBS.
I was 13 when dad brought home the 1st computer. Apple 2 C+. It had I believe 64k of ram and a 300 bps external modem. I used to log into bulliten boards or "bbs" in my area and post messages and play text-only games. Quite the cutting edge back in '89....
How about an old Apple? We had ( still do actually)one just like this in the early 80's. We were like only one of 2 families that had a home PC then.
Parsec was my favorite for sure.....TI Invaders, Car Wars, Munch man, and of course the all mighty Alpiner! My big bro was the one doing the simple programming, I just played games and made stupid messages repeat on the screen a million times..... Not much more I could do at the tender age of 8.
We had the modem (phone cradle) as well, but I don't remember it serving any good purpose other than holding 2 cups of juice for me/my buddies
Still all over Fleabay!!! Texas Instruments Computer System (Lots of EXTRAS) TI-99/4A TI99 *WORKS* SPEECH | eBay
I have some new floppy discs somewhere. Will trade for firewood. LOL... just kidding Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The IBM AT is a no-go at this time. I think the power supply has exceeded it's life expectancy. The Commodore 128D, however, is functioning as expected minus a bad jeopardy disk. The other unlabeled disk I had was a read only, but I did the old snip trick and was able to reformat it and have been able to successfully write to it. More to come.
