I have a Portland electric pole saw from HF. It's fine for the occasional trimming of small branches. Sent from my XT1030 using Tapatalk
I saw the Home Depot manual fiskar ones for $24-50...I'm leaning towards that even though I did see the electric remington one for $100 which seemed ok. It def won't be used often , there is like an hour worth of work max if that and then after that it will be used very rarely
I cannot support this post more vigorously. A high-quality pole saw (no gas) is a tremendously valuable tool. I was looking for one for a couple of years and then WesSpur ran a 20% off sale. I scooped up a, SILKY HAYAUCHI 21' THREE EXTENSION for $224.76. I consider that some of the very best money I've ever spent. I'd have gladly paid the "regular" price if I'd have known how incredibly awesome this saw is.
WOW!!!! We've got some "Sallie's" here..........................roof rakes and manual pole saws being HARD to use.....................after a few minutes............. Maybe I'm on the wrong forum; I thought this was a "manly" place.
Manual poles saws are WAY more efficient and easier to use than power saws. A nice sharp Japanese style blade will out cut a chain every day and twice on Sunday. Sorry.
I agree with that but I will crawl up there and chew and damm thing off before, I pay 200 bucks for a manual pole saw
Penny wise and pound foolish. I'd give up one or two of my 5 chainsaws before I'd give up my pole saw. I went through 3-4 lesser pole saws and always wound up disappointed. Wasted money. Then I got a Silky. All I can say is, please don't ever pick up a Silky, 'cuz if you do, you will actually know what you are missing. "Ignorance is bliss." ;-)

I had this pole saw for a couple of years Poulan Pro PP338PT Gas Pole Saw Review It came with a pole saw attachment and a trimmer attachment. It worked really good for a couple of years. I used it for trimming grass and for trimming the occasional tree branches. It actually cut pretty fast and was easy to use. Then I got crazy with it at the in-laws farm. The trees in their yard hadn't been trimmed for years so I had a good day of fun with the pole saw planned. I got off to a great start, branches were fallen like cats and dogs, one tree after the next, down goes the branches, 3 trees 4 trees 5 trees 6, they work looken so good I still didn't have my fix

Learned my lesson you just can't treat a homeowner priced piece of equipment like a pro. I'm sure if I would have used it right I could still cut some limbs when needed now.
I have an 18V electric and a manual 14' Fiskars pole saw and I will grab the Fiskars almost ever time. I bought the electric for $40 at a big box store going out of business sale a few years ago and it works ok but I find the Fiskars is still easier and faster. It's stayed crazy sharp after many years of use. I have cut up to 8" branches with ease and the lopper side works great on small branches too. We have also rented gas powered Stihl's to clear shooting lanes at deer camps but my goto is still the Fiskars.
If the OP had said how far in the air he wanted to get would have helped a bunch. It is a good thing we are having a heated debate about something really important like pole saws though. I would sure hate to think any body was getting their blood pressure up over something as trivial as, well, I wont go there as it is verboten here.
I have a Poulan pole saw and it works just fine. I did how ever have to retune the carburetor because it was set to lean and would have burned up the motor if I kept using it that way. There is a lot of 2 cycle equipment that comes right from the retailer that is tuned to lean because of EPA regulations. So you just have to richen the mixture a little. For the occasional use it is just fine. I have trimmed a lot of trees with it and it did not break the bank. If you want to spend more money then Echo makes one and Stihl makes one.
XXL that is the fiskars hanging on back wall of garage.. my goto is Stihl combI pole saw... I trim half mile or sother of tree line around my field easy wife drives tractor limbs in fel.. when full burn it... mike bayerl I have tried a silky.. apple orchard trim trees with them... yes they are nice.. my problem is the price.. my combI unit was 300(I got biggest) chainsaw attach 75 more.. roughly price of silky I seen are 350 plus.. if I trimmed trees for living I would own one... I say that when running landscape co.. bought 10 ..75 dollar weed Wacker when died or did not run buy a new one cheaper than fixing it... 12 dollar hour laborers are hard on equipment
Wow hadn't checked all day...I've posted many debate post since I have been a member. This one def seems to rile people up the most lmao. Thanks for all the input, can't we all just get along lol
