    Hi gang

I'm getting my grandpas old camp trailer that's been sitting at my dads for 5+ years. Tires are dry rotted but wood panels seem in decent shape. The problem is that I need to get registered and now you need fenders.

All the fenders I can find are for small wheels, not full size tires. This is one of those trailers with an old Chevy axel and full size tires.

I'm not much of a metal fabricator so what ideas (make or purchase) does the group have. I know photos would help...will try to get some soon.

Yes they are. They may look redneck but they work well and there are many a trailor running the roads around here with them WW's as fenders. Price is pretty cheap too compared to trailor supply places. Home made brackets needed as nesisary.

I've never seen those used like that. Interesting. Should be strong.

    That's actually a great idea...and cost-effective too.

I'm very impressed! I'm undecided between galvanized or plastic. Gal would be stronger but not easily painted. Both would be rust resistant. Thoughts? Price is close enough it's not a factor.

I think the metal would fair better if a rogue split hit when loading/unloading

Pros: I like the fact that the window wells are replaceable cheaply. Don't need to paint them, ever. Big enough almost for a dual-axle log splitter or a log-splitter with a dually wheel config.

Cons: Mounting flange configuration might be a little strange...So I guess modify away! Cut off existing flanges on ends? Custom brackets then or use self-tappers? Depends entirely on what you're mounting onto.

I'd go galvy......just knowing what I've put my trailer through I think the plastic would have been destroyed long ago.
How much are the window wells?

The best mounting option I've come across is to use gas pipe across the tops. Flanges to the trailer sides, and conduit type -u- shaped brackets to mount fenders to gas pipe.

That's pretty cool CtRider. Thanks for sharing that pic. Got close-ups of the flange mountings, brackets and hardware used?

Don’t overthink it too much. I`m sure that you can fashion something out of a 2x10 or 2x12 that will make the state happy. If it is just a utility trailer why not? I see wooden truck beds all the time.
