I watched with the sound off so maybe it was explained, but what's the benefit? To save your back from bending over? Seems like it's be worse pushing it around and re-positioning it.

I'm not sure what the benefit is. It looks like it makes the cutting process slow.

I'm not sure I see any advantage here either. Seems like an awful lot of fussing around without speeding the process up, or make it easier. I don't know about you guys, but when my back gets tired, I find kneeling by the round and cutting works. Sure, he doesn't kneel or bend over when cutting, but look how much fooling around he does with that little spiker bar. I almost groan when he spikes the round and lifts it on the trailer.

I cant think of any practical use for this thing. Maybe working on a 100% level surface with big logs and put like a 3120 or ms880 in the thing you push around, use a 36 inch bar. Lol might as well just build or buy a proccessor.

Probably the biggest advantage of that arrangement is the board he rolls the rounds up onto. The board holds the logs steady and keeps the saw out of the dirt.

Well it does relieve the operator of having to put as much pressure on the saw to get through the log. Also relieves him of having to bend over if he needed to. But his back won't be getting sore much either. Pretty cool. The leverage of the handle helps when putting saw into and through the log. I wouldn't build or buy one. But. Always interesting seeing others ideas.

It would be cool if he had 3 saws hooked to it so it made 3 cuts at once. To me it is inefficient with just once saw.

This thing reminds me of the guys who soak a pine cone in wax to make a fire starter: it comes off the tree as a fire starter already. Or the guys who peel an ear of corn then wrap it in aluminum foil before roasting it: it comes pre-wrapped and ready to go right off the plant. Some folks just like to tinker even if it makes things more complicated.

Don't like to bend over? Use a longer bar.

Any savings on his back from from not lifting the saw will probably be lost lifting that thing into the truck.

The log rolling gizmo, on the other hand does seem like it might just have some utility.

I like the bent pipe with the dogs on it as a roller handle at the end of the video.
