Live and learn! Something else that goes fast for me has been my age. I swear I was just 21 a few years ago, but instead we are planning our 30th class reunion!
Like my father said when I was young and had a few dollars, "That isn't your money, it' s just passing through your hands".
2006 SV1000S - Sorely missed 2004 Kawasaki KFX400 - Just sold this week. Prolly gonna miss this one too.
This is my toy. 69 AMC Javelin, 343. I've tried to bring it back as close as possible to the day it rolled off the assembly line in Kenosha, which I believe was November 8, 1968 based on what I've tracked down. Biggest change is electronic ignition. I hate points. I haven't coughed up the cash to get a set of factory wheels for it, so the Keystones that came with it will stay. Other than those two things, its pretty much as it was when new, even down to the vacuum wipers. My days of trying to bury the speedometer needle are behind me, but I have no problems putting the pedal to the floor and getting a bit past the speed limit as fast as I can.
For her birthday my wife wanted something that would go from 0-200 in under six seconds. I bought her some bathroom scales! Gary
1987 RX7 Inter-cooled Turbo, bought new- Loved that car but grew up and sold it for down payment on my home in 1994. Fastest I had her going was 152 MPH and was still picking up speed. That Wankel rotary engine didnt redline until 7500 RPM- if my memory serves me I dont drive like that any more, the older ya get the more you slow down. Funny how you car insurance stays low too Not actual pics, but I did have the all black-with a killer sound system added-Boy do I miss that car. That was a great car for riding up coastal Rt 1 in Maine and she loved corners!
They will rev a LOT higher than that. 7500 must've been the factory limit. I have seen drag cars do more than 15K.
Like I said...if my memory serves me so it may have been higher. And yeah that would have bee "factory recommended" which would have meant following the rules. Along with the stupid "shift up" light to get better gas mileage. I cut the wire to that indicator
