I cleaned up a few uprooted apple trees and some standing dead elm yesterday, got a pretty good load of wood. Some of it will be used for smoking the rest for firewood. It was a great day to be out cutting.
Apple is phenomenal. Puts out great heat, great to cook or smoke over, smells fantastic when burning.....
That Apple is some heavy stuff, right? I have only done up a couple Apple trees, enough to give me years worth of smoker fuel and a few owb loads. I'd love to get my hands on more - as they say in my neck of the woods, it burns "wicked hot!"
I can smell the apple from here lol. I see you have a woodport as well. Maybe throw some sides on for ease of stacking.
Nice work there JCMC! Cool looking work equipment you have there. What make, model, year tractor you have there? What's on the back of it? Is that a logging winch? What kind of trailer is that? Looks like a good hauler! Customized by you? I hope you don't mind if I'm a "little" nosy. I liked equipment.
The tractor is a 1984 Kubota L305DT with Fransgard 2800 logging winch. I added the hitch The trailer was an old enclosed horse trailer (got it free for the taking) the deck was rotted and the frame was rusted thru I patched it up and now its my wood wagon. It is a good hauler.
Very nice! I need to eventually find an inexpensive trailer or wagon to pull behind the tractor for firewood/debris hauling.
one more thing about burning apple! I hope you got a glass front stove.. at end of burn small flames are blue and green.. it's pretty burnt some for valentine's day.. I know a hoarders version of romance
When I found this one there were trees growing up thru the tongue and between the frame and wheels. I cut the trees and dragged the trailer from its ruts. I blew up the tires which were flat and weather checked and pulled the trailer home. I had to replace one of the tires but the other three are still original. Wish I had taken pic's of that operation but that was years ago.
