    Welcome to the club Mmjhunter! Nice to meet you.:handshake: You'll have to see if you can make the annual get together that we have in Williamsburg Pa (just south of Altoona) over Memorial day weekend! Hope to see you there!

    Keep on hoarding. :stacke::woodsign::axe::saw:

    Welcome to the forum Doug. Looks like you'll fit right in here nicely.

    I'll second the idea of going to a GTG if you possibly can as it is great meeting some of the other guys from this forum and we usually learn a few things at them too.

    Yes, if you can get a hydraulic splitter that is super nice; you'll love it. But learn right away that the correct way to split is like you do with the maul; vertically. That is the way God intended wood to be split. And don't think you have to have the biggest and bestest splitter out there. We have a 20 ton and it works fantastically and is plenty fast enough. As for the saws, my wife hounded me for many years to get a smaller saw for trimming the trees at least. I finally got a Stihl 180. Thought at first it would just be a toy but it is an amazing saw and I love it. Save the heavier saws for the heavier work. That will also save your body in the long run.

    My friends and neighbors all laugh at me also, but guess who comes knocking on my door every October? You guessed it!! the same ones who gave me back sass all year. Its sweet revenge giving sass right back in the form of burning sassafrass in their faces. Boom!!

    I can COMPLETELY identify with that. I often want to stop and see what kind of tools they are using.

    If you stick around long enough, I'll personally teach you the secret handshake!

    Speaking of that...have you submitted your dues yet?

    Oh no you don't! Can't explain it over the unsecured site here! (Or in some cases, insecure) Going to have to be done in person......

    You just make sure your membership is paid in full and you're on the free shipping list and you have the three year plan surpassed by at least two years. Then we can talk!
