I think either one would be a great piston to use. Hard to beat OEM though and being able to saw the saw is all OEM parts.

Meteors are usually a tad heavier than Oem but are very good.

I would go with the OEM. I think the OEM is better.

Before the price decrease, I'd have said Meteor. Since the decrease, Oem isnt that much more.

I still use meteor a lot, though. $38.50 for a very good piston shipped to your door is hard to beat. The extra weight isn't a big deal since I don't port saws.

With Caber rings included on Meteor pistons? I like the Meteors.. The jug has to be OEM. I've installed a few Meteors, and even a Hyway kit (been 4 years and the saw still runs good). The Hyway kit wasn't the greatest. But the guy was on a budget and wanted it fixed.

If you buy a whole top end kit and it comes with OEM piston? Then it's obviously the choice. But Meteor isn't a bad option. Anything else? And I'd pass.

A lot of the price decreases were short lived. I think OEM did a price drop due to the fact they were losing a lot of market share to aftermarket parts, but apparently they decided the price point wasn't the issue. OEM price for example on 660 was pretty steep, dropped down substantially last summer, they just raised them back up the beginning of January.

Yep... are they back up to original price? Or some happy medium?

I haven't checked my local dealer in a few months for their latest pricing. I think I may go in this week and find out what spiked.

It sounds like we lucked out with our run of Hyways. The later versions weren't as nice I guess.

I know the 660 piston went from $42 to $70 in January. I don't recall the old retail price, but $70 sounds about right.

Yeah, it's still a great running saw. I haven't been back inside to look at it, but most people wouldn't be able to tell you it's a Chinese top end by running it.
