Good to go till the end of the season but figured why not get these dead Elm in the carport for next year as i do have the room Emma wanted to get outta the house also
If you cut elm while it is still alive, yes, it will dry fast. That is because it will be all stringy. But wait until it is dead, especially wait until the bark is off most of the tree and it will split nicely like that Loon has. As for drying, he will be able to burn all of it next fall. In a pinch, he could burn the top part of that tree tomorrow.
Thanks gang and i just gotta get her to fill the darn stove dave Same as what Savage said bill and what i do is anything standing bark free and will fit in the stove can go right in but i like to let the split stuff dry a bit as you can see in this picture the middle of the top split is dark and has frost in it. By the look i was getting i knew she had enough of splitting and wanted to go for a run on the farm
"Thanks gang and i just gotta get her to fill the darn stove dave" Mine just like me to bring more wood in so they can chew the loose bark off. Man, if looks could kill.........
Ah; so about the same as I'm trying to do with oak, hunt for the dead standing and get the centers exposed to dry a bit more. Hope you have decent enough weather and health to keep the shed full.
Lookin good Loon. Love the look of your place. Good dog. I like how she goes along with you. Good girl.
Nice looking dry wood ! She deserves a bit of fun, it was tough on her keeping you busy to the get work done
It's just a little better when our dogs are along to talk to…. ever notice how they listen to every word? Nice pics Loon.
Thanks again gang..We do have fun out and about but nobody felt like splitting today? Buddy and Boomer were having a bit of a time with the deep snow out back though Thats not Buddy's butt in the second picture
