Bow bar on a 044

That looks like a Poulan Bow. I can see the stellite edge on the bar telling me it still has some life left in it and yes bow bars are made for bucking logs on the ground so you do not have to bend over so much.
See that foot at the bottom of the bow, you are suppose to hook that at the bottom so that when your cutting the bow does not kick up.

I know the OP knows this just adding a little info for anyone who might not.

 

There are a number of Christmas tree guys that use them in our part of the country. They use them for cutting the trees at harvest time. I've never heard of anyone using one in any other application.
Looks like it works pretty good in the video.

 

I had a narrow bow on that saw but took it off for the big bow. I plan on putting it on a 034 I have. When I do it I'll post pics and a video.

 

Those narrow bows are the last ones i saw commercially availible at Baileys. I KNOW Guido Salvage had some NOS of them and i think DexterDay bought one a few years ago from him.

 

I got mine from Guido. Some of them had different sized slots.

 

I figured thats who you got it from. I know he had a few, he was trying to sell.

 

I forgot I had this on YouTube. It was Guido running someone's saw with a narrow bow.

 

Theres a good chance thats Dexs saw. I know he got one from him like that. Saw looks a bit more worn than Dexs saws usually do though?

 

I really like the bow bar but I'm curious do you end up nicking the dirt a lot more? or is it just so minimal that its not noticeable?
