Yes; please. I tend to be very literal.

Kimberly, would it be very difficult to get some strap material (metal), drill a mounting hole, cut it to needed length, then screw it down?
I mean, this can't possibly be that hard. A clamp, a drill & bit, a hacksaw, and you're done. A file, if you want it pretty.
I've seen 1/8" thick steel and aluminum at HD......perfect. Just make something so you can have fires when you need 'em, while working with ESW.

O.K. All kidding aside. I guess I dont understand the problem. I have 3 doors on old Black Sabbath. A door for the ash clean out, the front door with the glass into it and the side door that I use for loading the stove. All 3 doors are cast iron and have a specific groove cast into them to accept the gasket. The front door with the glass is as such, door/w/ groove, gasket, glass, clamps holding the glass in place. It would take an act of God for the gasket to come floppin down twixed the door and the winder like yours did. I would say that your stove was engineered poorly as far as that goes. I would like to see a picture of what this door actually looks like FROM THE INSIDE! not just a pic of the stove front with a far going in it. Just sayin.

This woman is the female equivalent of Sheldon Cooper from the TV show The Big Bang Theory.

In the time this thread has been active I could have learned how to be a blacksmith and learned how to make glass and made a freaken door and door glass.

Maybe I'm in a pizzy mood this morning and I shouldn't comment but my God reading this is so frustrating yet here I am reading it. Maybe I'm a glutton for punishment.

I gotta go. Gonna go beat my head against a wall for awhile.

Got it, thanks. I woulda found them pics myself but this post is getting thicker than the Gutenberg bible FFS.
That sure do look like a pizz poor design as far as stove doors go. It also gives me some satisfaction in my belief that some times engineers and designers have no common sense. I'm sure that door is made that way all in the name of marketability but in the real world, it sure looks like it sucks to me. But then I guess everything is that way anymore. Now a days you need a $3000 scan tool just to tell ya what is wrong with a veehickel. But it used ta be all you needed to do a complete tear down and repair on a model T when you broke down along side the road was this.

In college we did a project that involved casting; we used aluminium for the lower melt point. Very interesting class.

That is a nice old tool kit. I have a similar looking adjustable spanner. Wow, even included tools to change out tyres.

You wanta know why? Would you actually take the sound advice from others as to why or would you just do as it seems you like to do and consider yourself to be much smarter than those who try to be a voice of reason. Some one compared you to Sheldon Cooper in an earlier post but I am thinking more on the lines of Hyacinth Bucket. Oh, that is pronounced Bouque by the way.
