I'm in NE Ohio (Ashtabula Co) too and I can't remember a winter like this. We literally slept with the windows open last night. We heat our basement that has 8" thick poured concrete walls. It's a huge heat sink. Normally we have to do this in April. The sad thing is that this hasn't been the first time this season. We love the snow.
The two winters previous to this one for us started late, ended early and the snow pack was at a historic low. Unfortunately mild winters in areas that are supposed to have winters often have negative impacts on the environment through the seasons that follow. Forest fires, stressing of aquatic life, bugs and increased disease. It all bounces back eventually though.
Almost no snow left here but only the top inch of the ground is thawed leav ing it rather greasy in the woods and not safe to do much cutting.
great work Locust Post . our 4 feet of snow went to 1 foot in 2 days last weekend. . it was melting fast!
So do I, I have not had to use the snow blower at all this year and only once last year. I also like to have frozen ground to make it easier to get some of my cutting areas.
