No fire for 24 hours and with the next 6 days projected to be in the mid 60's to 70° there ain't no wood burning gonna happen so guess I'll do now what I normally do around the middle of April or maybe May and sweep the pipe and clean the stove. Weird weather, daffodils in full bloom for the second week of February? The grass is beginning to grow, the plants in our woods are beginning to get leaves. Man, when we get another hard freeze, and we will, the woods are going to be devastated and the coyotes will be eating real well.
Got some warm weather here as well. I was out with the dog this morning and the day lillies have pushed their heads out of the mulch I see. May climb up as well and take a look at the chimney, don't expect to see much. I'm dragging the splitter out today, time to split and tidy up the stacks.
It seems like we typically get our largest snows in March, I'm worried we'll pay for this weather Ralphie Boy! I noticed fresh 3" shoots of grass in the flower beds yesterday evening, how does that happen mid February?!!
Going to sweep the chimney today as well! Unheard of temp.'s in IL for February. we have a projected high of 70*F on Monday. Going to be moving some wood into the garage too, I'm sure winter isn't leaving quite yet. I'm not complaining about the uncommon warm weather, as much as I love a nice fire I enjoy a warm sunny day!!
Gave the splitter a couple hours, while I had the mower out to get to the splitter I mowed....how's that for February......mostly to process all the proceeds this poop machine Aussie blesses us with
Come to Maine We have feet of snow on the ground. Nothing growing. outside. Lots of sledding going on here now. We live next to the power line where there is a snow trail when the snow is good.
milleo , I'll take our unseasonably warm over all that snow! LOL I like some snow, but it's been a few years since we've gotten that kind of accumulation here in Illinois. From what I've been seeing, a lot of you in the northeast have been getting BIG SNOWS recently. Enjoy them as best you can! Thanks for the pic. of the winter wonderland!
