we were up to a drippy 5c today. We have so much snow its nice to see a bit of it melt away. I limped the stove along today without it going out but Im also heating 2600 sq ft. Lodgepole pine was on the menu today.
Sitting at -5 C (about 22 F) and supposed to head up above freezing today. Sure enjoying this heat wave. Burning a small load of poplar kindling. Nice thing about living in a small place, is it sure doesn't take much to heat in mild weather.
We had 19 this morning so I loaded the liberty up with some cherry and some gooder splits of sugar maple.
Benn right at 21 all day. Foot of snow over the last 48. 40-55 forecast for next 10 days. Winter is rapidly diminishing. I'm into quite a bit of oak now. Had been a mix lately.
Started out in the low teens this morning and struggled to reach a blistering 32 by mid afternoon. Tomorrow will be 50!!!
Supposedly 18 here, but the flag is standing out to the south pretty aggressively under her all weather light. Feels an awful lot colder than high teens out here! Got a tub full of pine going to get the water back up to temp from 135. Can't complain though, as I got sixteen hours out of this morning's load of hickory, red oak, and poplar. -edit- there we go, up to 178 in the time it took to catch up on new posts. Loves me some dry pine!
cold out (28ºF), warm in (72ºF) primo red oak cooking supposed to be nice SAturday, Saturday night and Sunday. Will probably let the stove go cold and clean out ashes preemptively taking advantage of a short warm spell.
Been getting away with a small load a day, going out mid afternoons to water temps of 100F or less, re-stoking/repeat. Tried digging out the one truckload of poplar I cut last year but it's buried so it's ash, maple and cherry to get us thru the cool of night.
12 Suns shining already this morning Has been a very dismal sunless winter along the NY west coast. Oak and coal warming things up.
Yup, gonna have the lay off the stove, at least for a few days. I would take this weather every day of the year.
Currently at 22 OAT burning ash and elm.. 72 inside.. supposed to get to 40 over weekend.. let this 4 feet of snow settle into 2 to 2 and half.. that last little clipper lasted Tues5til this morning. .. supposed to be 4 to 6 inches.. but I snowblower 6 inches 4 times... some of that could have been wind drift... my wood deck 3.5 feet off ground is not about level with snowpack
I'm considering letting the 'pane run after today. Coal really shines with a thermo controlled forced draft furnace . 36hour burns are cake at 45-55 degree temps. We'll see what happens
As long as its sunny and the wind is reasonable, I don't need any heat at all. I pick up enough solar gain during the day to keep it comfortable at night.
26° when I tossed in a few splits of ash this morning, it should last until tonight with the predicted temp of 45° The wind is a bit brisk so it may not.
Same here with the low sun. It's out strong today and a nice day for cutting up some logs. I'm following my Doctors orders and taking vitamin D during the 7 months or so that I don't get enough sun on my skin. Helps with energy levels, etc.
