A nice little score on my way home from work. Saw a local tree co dropping a nice sized tan oak and figured I'd stop and see what they had planned for the wood. Got about three more loads waiting to get picked up...... never hurts to ask...... and this was where it was at..... beautiful up here today but we got a big storm coming in tonight.... we've had almost 5 feet ( that's right, feet) of rain up here since January 1st.and expecting three plus inch in the next 24 hrs..... some big puppies gonna be down and waiting for me this week.... I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Nice score and ya can't beat the price! The mountains are beautiful but stay away from those slippery slops with all that rain. Keep your head dry and your chain sharp.
They was dropped on a little uphill actually, I was able to buck em up and roll em down right into the truck... well right next to the truck, anyhow that picture was just to show location. The trees were behind me. I'd love y'all to think I was cutting and dragging up that slope but...... I'm just a 190 lb Italian.
MUST BE NICE...i been on a firewood hiatus. Cant find anything being given away anywhere in my area or anything. I been dying to find work.
Great pics VTW good score.. now does that 5 feet of rain help in the seemingly never ending drought situation? obviously it helps but with hill that steep it not soaking in much are the resovoir filling? or is it too much too fast and not soaking in?
Well for us up here it's all well and spring and a little creek pumping so all that water helps but we've been ok the last few years drought or not. As far as the state municipalities, the resis are full and some overflowing (check out oroville dam near Sacramento).... at this point roads are sliding out in areas where alternate routes are a couple hours out of the way so it's kinda becoming a pain..... but for me personally, it's been the best wood scoring year I've had in a while! I sure ain't complaining!! When I get home I'll figure out year to date totals but I think I'm creeping up on 100+inches.
We feel for you out in CA with all the rain. Probably ski resorts would love it too if the people could get to the resorts.
I was just stuck up at Lake Tahoe last weekend.... it's a mess up there still... dang , you got Hwy info for the Sierra Nevada all the way in Michigan??
VTW That information is available anywhere. If I was a skier I would call up weather channel, accuweather or intellicast and just input the zip for the place I wanted to know about. You don't need to be there to get weather info. When I was planning a trip from central Illinois to southern Cal on my bike I just did that for the entire path the day before I left home. That let me know what to expect across about 2/3 of the country. Weather is not a secret for those who want to know.
This is true, I was just surprised that someone that far away was talking about Jamed up roads I was just stuck on. I meant no disrespect.
The tree service dropped logs off at my house for free. They're supposed to be dropping off more tomorrow. Nice score VTW !
Beautiful country. I heard the line clearers the other day making more mulch from firewood. If I had a truck, I would have went in search for them. Most of the tree people here sell firewood as a side business.
Well, we've been through that area a few times and yes, the roads from here to there are not too bad!
