Yep not good sub, and even though you are a sailor I hate to see fellow warriors go down( I am an Aghanistan vet.). I just lost my grandfather a Vietnam vet to one January 8th.

He's an old sea dog. The only way to get thru is to kick him in the azz-or this case a snow shovel.

    Really subbie, do what's right

If it makes you feel any better, I asked the youngest daughter to help outside Thursday w/ running the sn*wblower while I did the shovel cleanup - and I almost never ask for help w/ storm cleanup outside.. But it was too much for me to do in a few hours w/o killing myself.

If your sons are willing to help out, that's cool, put some gas in their tank, or buy them some of their favorite Beverages.

Dang Subie - wish I lived closer I would come over and help out! I ain't doing nothing between snow blowing sessions but sitting here on FHC, then grabbing a book.

Just got back in from round 2 of snow blowing. I think following the street plow schedule is working real well (until they go by like at 1 am). Did the whole thing this time. Wind has not kicked up yet but snow was heavier (weight-wise) than the first time around.

They wouldnt let us out of the airport on the way home when we stopped in Rammstien, I guess they knew what a hundred plus engineers would be up to if they did. LOL

    Very true.

Thanks for everyone's advice. I know what you're saying is true. But.... it's also one of the reasons I didn't want to say anything. Geno's post struck a chord, and Smokey's stroke scared the crap outta me. So I told my story. The funny part is I remember a time not too long ago when I thought I was having a heart attack. But I thought afterward that it wasn't because it wasn't in the right place. It was on the left side of my chest and lasted about 10-15 seconds. I don't remember where I was or what I was doing, I think I was sitting. Just can't remember. It will be interesting to see what the Doc says. It is hard to teach and old dog new tricks, ya know.

Take it easy sub!! I've had to let my boy do more with my health issues though I'd rather do it myself. I don't sling the shovel that much. I tend to stick with the sn*w blower. Its handles keep me stable and I don't fall down as easy. I'm sure your boys will step in and get it done for you. Assuming you told them, They would rather than loose ya!

    Get the ticker fixed!!

I know what you mean. Coming up the hill on the side yard its always icy under the snow and I use the snow blower to pull me up the hill-I always think its like a walker my dad uses now

    Sub,
you get to a point in your life that you realize that it's time to let younger, stronger backs (and hearts) pick up the load. You've worked for a long time, it's time to step back some. Even if you have to pay something to get it done, it's worth it to improve your lifespan. Don't let pride get in the way.
