I have an earth stove in a house that I purchased. Looking for any information I can gain to help me sell this stove. My husband and I know nothing about them. Is this an antique? Can someone use it? How much is it worth? Etc.

You can use it. Just not as often as those of us in the great white north. As for how much it is worth, if something like this happens again, it's value will be priceless, but only if you have some dry wood to put in it. And by the way, welcome to FHC
Welcome aboard, MDC. They're fairly common around here, and only fetch about $200-$300 when in good condition. Someone did a nice job on that hearth.

Agree on the price stated above. That would sell on CL for around $300 here and appears to be in good condition.
Welcome... just texted my cousins in Tennessee to help on value... as price of woodstoves varies regionally... it would be worth 300 here also... in winter price would drop in summertime...
Welcome to the forum Megan. I have always liked the Earth stoves and they were big back in the 70's and early 80's. As to the worth of the stove, one can not just look at the outside of the stove to determine its worth. Yes, it is a pretty stove and looks as if it has been taken care of, but just like a human who suddenly gets a haircut and puts on clean clothing, it does not change the interior and we have no idea what that interior of the stove looks like so there is no way to determine the value of it. The prices given are only guesses. If you compare the heat output, the amount of wood it will consume and how clean or unclean the air is coming out of the chimney, compared to the newer epa stoves they are not worth much except for sentimental reasons. One could still leave it set up just for the beauty of it.
Absolutely. Based off of asking prices on CL ads, and even that varies. Most of the Earth stoves on there don't look that good. Dennis is right in that it's very hard to tell from the outside what kind of shape it's in. If you were to get into burning, we can help with that too.
