My 2012 Kubota is 4x4 so it is better all around in the woods as well as when it's muddy. Plus, I can switch between bucket and forks so easily. I bought it sooner than I planned because of the EPA crap. From my understanding the DPF on the 2013 and later has to be exchanged with a dealer when it needs serviced. No thank you!

The 2030 is an early '70's model, so it is free of any EPA garbage. The bad thing is that it's two wheel drive, although it's rear tires are loaded, has wheel weights and a box scraper hanging off the back. Sometimes I use it to load logs on my flatbed at the farm leaving my tractor at home to unload. Also, if I don't have time to drive my tractor down, I'll use it to load rounds into my dump trailer. The JD has my Kubota beat hands down in the total weight dept.

Also, I got zero % financing on the Kubota so I bought their insurance. It covers anything that happens to the tractor. Say, hypothetically, your dad runs a branch up into the radiator. All you would pay is $250.00 to get it fixed. Kinda nice not worrying about anything too major happening.

I grew up with Deere's, so I have an affection for them. Kubota makes a nice, reasonably priced machine.

Hope thats all it is. Guy I know ended up with a pneumonia after being sick for awhile. Once he checked in, it was too late for help.

Mid winter frame wash, hillbilly style. Sure makes you feel good watching the water running off go from grey/black to clear.

Just digging in to it. I'm leaning (no pun intended) towards a leaky O-ring on the cylinder head. We have a bunch of other stuff going on today so I spent 20 mins on it this morning. Happened yesterday. Kids said it wouldn't stay running as they were swapping riders. Once it started backfiring they limped it up to the shed. I need to move some things around to get it into the heated space and that won't happen til sometime this week.

I'll be sending the cylinder off to have it repaired and replated. Engine is coming out and gone through while we wait for it to come back.

    AYE! :hair:
Give your carb(s) a good goin through before you fire back up. This a very typical thing to happen in Ohio since the sleds only get used occasionally. Its been sitting, you get it out, get it running, not knowing that the carbs are a lil gunked up from sitting, it runs OK (or not?) so you ride it saying you'll work on it when you have time after the snows gone, but it's running a little lean...and POP goes the weasel!
Could be an air leak as you said though...hard to say for sure sometimes...good you are going through the whole thing, very well could have a crank seal leak. Just some things to check...haven't even had mine out this year yet...probably won't at this point...we have had very little snow here. It was put away with the carbs dry, but I wouldn't be surprised if I would still need to clean 'em.
