I am sure they are just getting ahead for next year as we all know pellets that sit out in the elements for a year on a strict fifo bassis get better with age

Stopped at Wally mart today after work. Saw they had pellets out front as they haven't for some time. Pennington's per usual, And a $5.69 price tagged to them. But the interesting bit was inside as they had 18 tons on the floor?? Never seen that before and every pallet was already unwrapped?? I asked on of the sales reps what was up. He said they had 30 tons left from last season and when they pulled a skid to sell. The customer rejected them as there were several wet(bulged) bags. So they sorted and restacked all the skids and chucked the bad ones to the dumpster's.

I counted 18 skids including the one out front. But it looks like they are getting ready for a purge by their setup. Selling what they can at the current price and then dumping the ones that don't move is my guess. Too bad they are pennies or I might keep popping back in to check on them. Must have cause tears watching 12 tons hit the dumpsters.

Lowes is a hub for the area stores with its big lot and there still swimming in them(So many I can't count!!). HD had 40+ tons and TSC has more than the last time I stopped(nearly 60 tons). My area is flooded IMHO and It could be a good thing if they don't move.

Spring fling could be interesting this season. 2 bad seasons in a row has to be bending something. I would think there could be better spring deals from the mills than last season. Was a bit shocked the mills didn't offer better deals last season. Hamer and AWF coupons are the first I have seen by mills. Will others join them?? I just wonder. ;)

We had one of the warmest Januarys ever here...
Agree... it will be interesting if it maintains the trend..
But as some surmise... I'd bet those that got burned last year,
will only get warmed this year!

Don't know if they are calling for shipments or they have to take them because that's what the contract that was setup between Lowe's and GT . When I worked for HD we would get shipments of foliage plants in when we had more than what we knew what to do with :hair: so I ?? why I was told that it comes from corporate and the deals they have set up . It maybe different now I don't know , just my take on it .

Could be Will, I'm sure they are under contract with the mill.

I do see good stack of them in the Torrington store. But they do hold for some(6 of the 20 odd tons have names on them.) Store inventory only show 299(bags) available. So many of those tons might be reserved?? Just no names painted on them. And 6 tons might warrant a new delivery. This store also feeds others in the area as it has a sea of a lot out back.

The price around here has been $185/ton since August. There are still 20-30 tons sitting in their storage area. Not sure if they're going on sale or not. I'd scoop some at $150/ton or less.

Just got natural gas brought down the road a few weeks ago. I've got some decisions to make before next heating season, so I'm letting the stash get a bit lower than I normally would.

That would seem like a smart play for the BBS to hold them at a regional store/hub, to limit transportation costs -> loss of $$$.

Local HD shows 105 bags of FSU in stock, no bag sales at all on the floor this season, no pallets stacked / visible in parking lot or Garden Dept.. Much different vs. last year.
