Yes - i messed up a pair of insulated carhartts once, thankfully it wasn't my leg. I where them whenever the saw is running.
I really need to get a pair, been looking for a decent price recently. Need to go down to Menards and get a pair. Local stihl dealer wants $90, but I know that's cheaper than cutting my leg open.
90% of the time. In regards to how they look, I thought they looked goofy at first but then I did some cutting for a female friend who told my wife I looked hot in them. Since she is lesbian I didnt get in trouble with my bride. Lol.
I'm… I'm so conflicted… And you know what else really gets the ladies all hot n bothered (if my memory serves ) … when a guy gets all spiffed up with saw dust, dirt, sweat N slime, all covered with bug juice… from a day in paradise… Yessereee. Oh, and, if you can find one like that, she's a keeper.
These are the ones I have. Dont know if they work, but thats a good thing. Sure beats the hospital bill or death. http://www.amazon.com/Husqvarna-531...qid=1392298335&sr=8-2&keywords=chainsaw+chaps Also have this helmet to finish the safety outfit off. So glad I decided to get smart and safe while cutting. http://www.amazon.com/Husqvarna-ProForest-Chain-Helmet-System/dp/B0030MIHBY/ref=pd_sim_lg_2
Not only do I wear chaps, I use the brake as well. Not after every cut, like bucking a trunk where it is one easy cut after another, but any time I am moving around with a running saw. Start doing it, and it is a pretty easy habit to pick up.
I thought I was alone .....now I see I am not !! My girlfriend loves me more the dirtier I get . A few years ago I was out draggin logs with my old 8n ..in the rain no less . I was soaking wet and muddy . My girlfriend came up to bring me lunch . Well...what I got instead was yanked off the old Ford...the rest is not family oriented for this forum !!
I use the chain brake a lot in a tangled mess. Chaps are occasionally worn. The ones I've tried won't snap around my thighs and usually end up tangled in brush and more of a trip hazard than protection. I need to figure out a way to extend the straps so I can wear them more often. I don't wear anything but glasses an ear plugs milling.
These are the ones I got on sale in the fall, They fit well and if you keep your nose in the Menards site, they may go on sale prior to spring. I had an old beat up pair of husky's, finally fell apart. The ones from Menards are Forrester and seem to be very good quality, I think they were $39.95 on sale. Even at $55.00 there well worth it. http://www.menards.com/main/see-mor...on-style-chainsaw-chaps/p-2118376-c-13848.htm
Holy Moly! Them's some big thighs! lol When I put my chaps on, I only use less than half of the straps on the thigh and calf! Note to self: Be nice to this guy if I ever meet him! lol Ted
My dad is in the medical profession and has a bag if supplies he keeps at the house. When I was younger we were cutting wood and he cut his leg with the saw. We went to the house and he gave himself stitches. After having that image etched in my brain I wear chaps when the saw is running.
