Today is the 22nd and it hit me that exactly 3 months from now will be the GTG at our place so thought it might be fitting to post about it. For those who are not aware, we had one on April 23 last year and it worked out very well. We had 35 in attendance for the noon meal. Some came early, some came only for the day, some stayed overnight and we hope all had a good time. By the reports we got, it does sound like all had a good time and for sure Judy and i did. Come one and come all! We're planning on making this year better than last year! Even Scotty Overkill says he will show up this year! We will have felling, bucking, splitting, stacking (if anyone wants to) and whatever. As you can see, some come with ATV's even golf carts. Some come with dogs but please do not bring any dogs that might want to chase deer! For those who come with campers, some came last year on Thursday afternoon and stayed until Sunday. We have plenty of room but not much for electric. However, we know some have to have electric and we will do our best to accomodate. You can fill with water here if needed and we also have a place you can dump before you leave. We do not have much room in the house but last year we found some sleeping on couches, chairs and floors. You are welcome but we do suggest you bring a sleeping bag and perhaps an air mattress, pillows and blankets or foam to sleep on. If it is warm and some wish to sleep outdoors (many did last year) you are welcome to do that too. You can even sleep in the barn if it is wet. If it is cold, we'll have the Fireview stove kicking out heat (it was not needed last year) and a bon fire (whether it is cold or not). For those who do not care to partake of some work, we have plenty of trails you can walk on and no neighbors to be concerned about. We're not sure if turkey season will be on then or not but will advise as time nears. We will have plenty of food and drink. For those who wish to partake of the heavier drinking, please confine that to after the work is done on Saturday and bring your own favorite beverages (We already know what DexterDay will be drinking!). As the time for the GTG draws near, please watch for updates. We also will be starting a private conversation for those who plan to attend.
Nothing official!!!!! If you wish to come early, please feel free to come. On Saturday, typically in the early morning it is a greeting thing as people show up from probably 7:30 until noon. I think everyone got here by noon. Pretty much everyone was gone by noon on Sunday. If anyone wants a breakfast, we can also plan on that if need be. Last year we had planned on some pancakes and real maple syrup but it was not needed. I would not be surprised if andybaker was to show up with a few rolls and Polish bread. Others may show up with different things for breakfast and dinner. TurboDiesel's other half will probably do some cooking of meats for dinner. If anyone wants to bring some items (and we had lots of this last year) they are welcome. We had 3 or 4 coolers last year filled with bottled water and pop but were amazed at how much was left over. It did not go to waste though. lol Actually a good share of it went to one of our good neighbors who were having 2 gtg themselves; a family reunion and a church gathering.
Another thing for accommodations if anyone wishes, we have a decent motel 7 miles from us. If anyone might be flying in, we suggest Lansing or Detroit. Lansing would be the closest. Flint is a possibility but unfortunately there don't seem to be many incoming flights daily, at least from airlines that make the short runs. If anyone flies in, we will make arrangements for someone to pick you up.
I'm really looking forward to it! I hope some of our Iowan and Midwestern members can join us too!! Grizzly Adam AND tfdchief I hope to see yins!

Pretty sure everyone knows my drink of choice! But many love what Barcroftb is drinking! I hope to see some new faces at Dennis'!! He has an amazing plot of land and it's a great time! I am really looking forward to this year's GTG!
I guess this Annual GTG at Backwoods Savage's place goes on our bucket list for the future. Not this year though.
Wish my wife and I could take the time and go out there for a couple days, but it just can't be done. I hope you all have a great time and thanks to Dennis and Judy for hosting a GTG for this FHC crowd!
I'm sure hoping to be able to make it up. I hope "life" cooperates and I can come put a bunch of faces to screen names.
