looking for an Id on this. I want to say white oak. This guy was broken off at the top. I dropped a couple weeks ago and brought half of it to the house. Went back this morning and finished putting it in rounds
I cannot say on the species but that does not look like white oak, I will say that. Edit: after zooming on the bark it could have a chance.
I've got a lot of white ash. And this tree was in a low spot. Not in the swamp but not too far from one
Just a joke M2theB ....I have friend that always says that when he cannot say for sure what it is. It was sort of a standing joke around here and on an old site a lot of us were on. Carry on.....
Does anyone know it the emerald ash borer is hitting the swamp ash like it is the white and green ash?
It's not here yet. But it's knocking on the door. I walked the property with a forester last fall and said it won't be long The farmer up the road is harvesting all of his for saw logs and has been for the last 4 or 5 years. He's not touching the swamp ash. Says it smells.
