Went to the dump today and there was a pile of 4 or 5 ft. smallish trees and or limbs...Yup I loaded what I could into the Saturn, not alot but it all adds up, its all hard wood but not sure what it is and don't care...

I was thinking the same thing that maybe is maple, not sure if hard maple or silver but thinking hard...More ther but bigger and unless I take my saw I won't be able to load...
I usually only use the saw at home with a sawbuck only a few times have I used it away...I am not that good with it so that's what I do, as long as I can lift it and load it I will take it home...
Was teasing.. but I understand.. my saw is in trunk but not all PPE so I am very careful.... our dumps never have wood like that in them.. saws is for driveway and roads ... I won't leave branches in road usually see a few after storms.. country living..

looks like red maple to me cut 6 months to a year ago for the cracks and bark peeling back like that - maybe not quite so long considering how dry the Summer was in some places. They'd have powderpost beetles in 'em if they were here. I don't get them on oak, just maple. Doesn't matter where or how I stack them. One infestation and then done, so I never see them in the house. They're gone by then.
Yes milleo you got hold of some beautiful soft maple. I love the stuff and we have plenty of it here too. And Loon I'm happy to see you change the name back to the original.
