We finally got around to working on a pile of mixed hardwood rounds I've had sitting around for 3-4 months. Wife offered to help me split and stack. We got a little over a cord (not all in the picture) of Beech, Black Birch, Cherry, Red Maple, Tulip Poplar, Black Gum, Locust and Red Oak all tucked away. It was extra fun today because she learned how to run the hydraulic splitter for the first time.

That's awesome Mike! I remember the day I taught my son how to run the splitter, he loved it! Great looking stacks!

my wife often runs the hydraulics and I get a lot more done when she's helping. I wouldn't trust anybody else.
But after an hour or so, she'll lose interest, then focus and then it's time to shut it down. The trick is to recognize the signs early.

Mrs TD has been helping me c/s/s now for the last few months. We usually go out for a 2-3 hours and stuff the truck full. She really likes the not burning any HHO game.

    Nice job Mike and Mrs.
I'm just wondering WTH is going on with all you guys/gals who don't have snow.
You're excused if you live in Florida. :D

We're saving a buncha money on sled wax.
Saving a buncha money on car washes to clean the salt off the cars.
Gas tank for the snowblower is still mostly full.
I'm not quite sure where all the snow shovels are right now and this time of year ya usually do.
Sand and salt is still sitting where it was put away last year.
I've wood stacked in all the dry places temporary-like and not sure whether to start using them up or not.
Weird Winter but just started on the second cord of oak so can't complain.
Although I really do need to get out and split some more pine.

That's great Mike. I too love it when my wife decides to help...except for the stacking. I will not let her stack the wood... She is terrible at it.

My wife's a great splitter helper as well. Too often that job is all on me though.

She won't stack though, she thinks I'm too anal about it and she won't even attempt it now. I tell her to stack between the cribbed "tower" ends and it'll be fine, but she still won't do that.

That's a nice bit of work Mike!

I love seeing the splits all stacked and just waiting to be ready to burn. It's a thing of beauty.

Nice stacks Mike! I have quite a few like yours, that have a little of everything. Makes it fun when burning it.
