I was told last year that all I needed to cut and process my 10 full cord of firewood for the year was a cheap chainsaw and a splitting wedge. Well, after searching and searching, I finally found my chainsaw. Couldn't be happier!
Make sure you tune the carb properly so it doesn't lean seize! Oh and those models really benefit from a muffler mod. Sent from my Z832 using Tapatalk
Left handed? Oh damm, didn't see that. Anybody want to buy my saw? First $400 takes it. No holds, cash only, will meet locally and cross posted. PM for details and questions.
WD40, bro. Speaking of oil. I have a buddy who splits a little hickory every year to sell to people who use it to cook / smoke with. Had a guy who wanted to buy all he had - about 4 full cords. Well, I was over there when the guy shows up to pick it up. The guy pulls out his moisture meter and tests a few pieces from different parts of the pile. Then he asked my buddy what kind of oil he used to cut this wood. My buddy said Stihl. Im not kidding when I say the guy turns about 10 shades of red and blurts out "YOU USED BAR OIL TO CUT HICKORY WOOD?!?!?" Well, yea, my buddy says. Again blurting out "YOUR AN IDIOT! YOUR SUPOOSE TO USE CANOLA OIL IN THE SAW TO CUT THIS STUFF WITH! I think that's where I said something about leaving my buddy's property and escorted him back to his truck.
I prefer peanut oil myself. Bar oil? that's what we used to call cheap "house whiskey"…. at the bar. I can't ever remember seeing any signs of bar oil on the end's of cut wood.
Coulda run each end of them Hickory splits thru the chop saw if it really came down to it.... That wouldn't be time consuming at all
Beats me why this guys such a tool about bar oil. I guess the purist smokers can tatste bar oil on the food cooked with it. Either way, he was close to being smoked himself if he got lippy. Any who....any takers on my saw?
Probably some snob in an Audi. I've used hickory for smoking food for years and never had an issue with using bar oil you know, for the bar.
After getting into cutting apple tree after apple tree, I thought about selling to BBQ joints. I heard from more than one source that they'd require veg oil instead of traditional bar type. I never switched and gave up the idea, till this past haul. I contacted my local favorite and they replied that they would have bought from me if they hadn't just bought a load. He never asked about the oil type, so this spring when the 5 cord is seasoned I plan to try again. May try for some type of food coupon deal. We love their food.
