    I have the Barreto tiller like in the first pic , it's built like a tank , all hydraulic , it's been a trouble free machine .

    Reading back through this the part that has me confused is " those split catchers have rubber flex to extend up and down." They look just like steel to me?

    They are steel but are mounted to the unit with a flexible attachment that allows them to move up and down, their site refers to it as a cushion mounted log cradle-

    I was thinking it could have been something g like rubber buffers. But looking back at your pics it still looked like steel bolted to the beam, but the pics don't focus on that area well I guess.
