Kinda tough for me to handle, and I want to make sure they dry.
I'm already rethinking the plan, though. :loco:

Never got those pieces and rounds split, so they're now buried in a foot of snow, and I can't get to the splitter anyway. Spring is right around the corner............
Anyway, firewood guy has had ongoing vehicle/equipment issues, so I thought for sure he was done until spring. He texted me this morning though, and asked if I still wanted another "3 cord" (AKA 3 face cord:whistle:...hey, it's the vernacular used up here), so I said sure. He'll be here in a couple hours........cool.
I had to go out and knock off a foot of snow from the stacks where I plan to put it. This load gets me a little farther into '18-'19.
    Happy camper right now.
    I'll post pics later.

He and his buddy just left.
So nice. I figure this load saved me about 24 hours work, if I had to get in the woods and do the splitting myself. IMG_20170116_172656_706.jpg IMG_20170116_172714_766.jpg

Oh yeah, forgot to mention....it's all Ash. He did a pretty good job making this batch the same length.
Probably start stacking in the morning, unless we're getting the icefall that's forecast.
He was well over an hour later than he thought. I was planning to get a jump on the stacking before it got dark, but that didn't happen.

Hope you got to tarp over it. Good for getting the wood.

    Nope, no tarp.
It'll get stacked, and kept uncovered until about 2-3 months before winter '18-'19, when it'll get put in the shed.
    No worries.

The rain slowed to a drizzle, so out I went, but not until about 12:30.
Casper helped, of course. I think he's wondering why we stopped to take a pic, when there's still such a big pile of wood to chew on.
I only stacked up about 1.5-2', 12' wide, but it's a start. I'll call these "ice splits", since they had a nice shiny ice coating.
Takin' a little break before I head out to the shop for a bit.

Did some more yesterday and today, with just a little left that's stuck in the snow. With the temps in the mid to upper 30's, the snow is melting some. I'll go back out tomorrow and probably finish up.
Feels good to just about have this stacked. Stack on the right is 4' high, while the one on the left is almost 5', but only because there's almost 1.5' of Maple under the Ash. This will stack out right at a cord, or slightly more.

    Oak, I think that one's a Pin.
I have a very few small Beech in the back of the property, though.
