Seems like the Weather Channel is pre-occupied with that Monster Ice Storm shaping up in the middle of the country. Has anyone seen a long range outlook for the rest of winter...say from Feb-April??? Just curious as to what we may be up against...
Tried searching for some long range forcasts, but didn't find anything right now. It looks to me though that the weather will be mostly mild, but we are having a micro cold spell right now ( -2/3 degrees Centigrade.)
Accuweather does a forecast out about 3.5 months, and usually within a day, it changes. Pretty useless, in other words.
When they change the forecast every couple hours, yeah......useless. A few days ago, they were changing almost as the weather changed. Heck, I can do that by looking out the window.
I am not a weather man, but....... it should be colder than in July with a 100% chance of burning wood
Long range forecast is easy. It will be a gradual warming trend until 3 or 4 months after the fruit trees bloom.
Here's the only long term winter forecast I like....."you should have half your wood and half your hay at Ground hog day"
The long range forecast for February this year is that it will be warm enough so that a few rodents come out to see if the sun in shinning quite early in the month. Toward the middle of the month thoughts tend to swing toward your sweethearts but they are not certain the weather will have much to do about that. Another interesting thing is that the normal highs and lows will be getting a bit higher as the days pass and the daylight hours will be getting longer and longer. Folks will also tend to be aware that baseball season must be getting closer and some will be watching for the early spring birds. Most folks are advised to keep topping off their wood stacks and keep matches handy in case they need to restart the fires. But because February has only 28 days this year most folks will not burn as much wood as they did in January. Stay tuned for further developments.
