What was wrong with the original line? How long had it been in place?

It was the original clay sewer line and it had roots in it and a broken spot

stinson89 It could've been a lot worse! Try doing that in below zero temps and you'll know what I mean!

Looks like about 6-7 feet deep?

Yooperdave yeah its not any fun in below freezing temps, but you get used to it after awhile as long as i have been doing this for. Also it was 9 1/2ft deep

Does the city cover all of it Stinson? Or is the home owner on the hook?

Home owners here have to pay from basically the sidewalk.:smoke:

no d box was 45 feet from tank... with 4 lines 40 foot parallel. . of course not marked anywhere.. cut down tree.. put in 200 odd feet retaining added 16 yards of pool sand and set pool on a 1 foot wide 5 inch thick ring... took 6 years for lines to fail... all stone in lines then half of pool sand effectively caused a block!

Rules in this state say I can fix it.. but if I take it out it has to be engineered stamped etc etc.. read 20 grand... so I fixed it correctly.. with the best of intentions to stay within the rules!

Glad to see you pulling a box. I know it's a pain in a butt for you guys but like Yooperdave said, be careful. We want you around on FHC for a long time. :)

Credit given for pulling a box. But if OSHA pulls on site and sees that, get your checkbook out. That's why contractors are so expensive, we have to be. A proper trenchbox is still cheaper that a funeral.
