During the summer I maintain a few pieces of property with regards to lawn mowing, trimming and blowing. I have had a Echo string trimmer that is almost 20 years old. It has worked like a champ. But, it is on its last legs. So, I was looking at the DeWalt 40 volt system and a string trimmer. I think it is a brushless motor and that means the charge last longer than a brushed motor. I used the DeWalt 7 1/4" circular saw and that thing was not bad for a cordless saw. Each time I mow I use the string trimmer for about 20 to 30 minutes of trimming. So, my question is does anyone have one and what is the verdict from a wood hoarder? They make other tools for lawn maintenance which I don't need now since my gas one's are doing just fine. If we go electric I think I can get the "main decision maker" to assist since she would just flip the switch. Thanks in advance for the input
Not the trimmer, but use the 40v blower and it's incredible. I am the maintenance director a of smallish school district. My custodians use the 40v blowers to blow debris out of bleachers after sporting events. We can run the blower for a good 45 minutes with no drop in power. Not sure how long it's actually last as we charge after every two uses. Personally, if I didn't have so many gas yard equipment, I'd consider going to dewalt 40v on all of them.
