I had an accident last summer and broke two vertibra in my back. It pretty well hobbled me for 5 months, and I haven't pushed it by cutting wood since.

I had been getting the itch to go run my saws, and I was tired of taking wood out of the stacks to burn but not refilling. Today was the day I decided to get back in the groove.

I had a stack of 4' mulberry pieces I piled up at my in-laws I began with. It had been stacked since last winter and I was ready to get it c/s/s to size.

I got about half the pile finished before my son got hungry and it was time to leave.
I planned on that being all the wood cutting for today, but then my daughter and her friend wanted to go play in the woods at my parents house. I had a stack of wood that fell over there last summer so I restacked it. I took my saw and cut down a little 14" ash tree that was a victim of EAB.

I got it bucked up and all the brush piled to burn. I need to drop one more small ash to make room for some massive trees to land. One of them you can see in the last picture at the corner of the house. All big ash trees that are succumbing to EAB.

Not a bad days work, now we will see how my back feels in the morning.

May your back feel like brand new in the morning, & may the wood cutting be the best therapy for it. Great job, & glad you're back in the saddle!

Hopefully you took some ibuprofen ( or something) before and after.

That's a nice amount of work for getting back into it after an injury like that.

    Nice work though!

Man, you better take it easy with that back.

You would be the only one to know just what you can and can't do.

But it sure is nice to be able to css again!

    Start slow, gonna be sore,
but probably was sore before you started.
Good to strengthen the back slow & easy

Split in place or get a ramp for the big ones
    Work smarter, not harder

Bet it felt good to be outside cutting
A good soreness, if there's such a thing

    Ibuprofen is my friend

Glad you're back out getting it done! I'm sure you'll be a bit tender today, try not to overdo it, firefighter938 ! Always nice to add to the stacks.

That's a good way to get back into it. Bet it felt great to have a saw back in your hands. Now that you are done, take it easy! You will certainly be soar for a day or two.

Good to hear you are back at it (no pun intended). That is a lot of serious damage to a body and it takes time to heal. I don't believe working with the wood will bother a lot so long as you don't overdo it.
