Gotcha Papadave, we are definitely not neighbors if you are in Norther MI... cnice is local though! No retirement yet... Mrs and I are in our early 40's, so we have some time to go before we think about retiring.
Welcome one to the show Dan! Where in RI?? Hoard up all that black Birch you can get, I know it's prevalent in your area... I'm on the border in Attleboro, and camp out in Gloucester. Again, Welcome. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
Nice place you have there. I see a boat, a target, and fire wood you are going to fit in just fine here. :stacke:
RI Dan You have a good looking location. Welcome to the site. How much land do you have with the house and is most of it wooded?
Hey Welcome RI Dan ! You'll have a good time, we have a growing New England crew here. More than a few down your way. Nice pics, enjoy the snow. All we got was a dusting of it, I'm wishing for more.
You might do it first Dan!!! Welcome to the show! Good to have you here! By the looks of your land, are you anywhere off of 138? I was stationed in Newport for for two years on a Navy Frigate and the was at the US Coast Guard Academy for 4 years, I know RI fairly well. Anyway, Best place on the planet and it may become addicting... So be careful.....
Hello and welcome, Dan. I'm just across the border, north of Woonsocket. How's your coffee milk?? . Whereabouts are ya, in the penal colony? Sent from my XT1030 using Tapatalk
Welcome to the forum Dan. Being a relatively newcomer to the wood burning and with your comments on the oak, we'd like to invite you to do a little reading: Primer on Woodburning by Backwoods Savage That can be found also by going to "Resorses" (at the top of the page) and then most times you will find it at the top of the page but sometimes it might be further down as they sort of rotate. That looks like a nice place you have and I hope you own a good chunk of that woodlot. It looks really nice. Congratulations to you too for being able to get that place in the country. Country living is tops!
We are in Scituate RI. Seems like there are a few of you not too far away from me. Maybe a get together is in order come spring. We are on 5 acres with the house set back 1200' from the road so we are surrounded by woods and wildlife. Hundreds of acres behind the house that is not buildable as of today. If it stays that way we plan to stay here until retirement. Appreciate the warm welcome and look forward to contributing when I can.
Na, live there Dave, My family settled there in 1898, Grandpa and the gang came down from St. Johns, New Foundland to fish! Grand pop got torpedoed by the Germans 60 miles ESE of the Vineyard in the deep part. Any New Englander knows where the Vineyard is...
RI Dan I would recommend looking up threads labeled solar kilns .. should help you make sure your wood is dry.. then check it with a MM (moisture meter) not on my big tablet yet so can't post thread for you... this should help ya til you get on 3 year plan!
