If I had a 50cc saw I'd want to jump to about 70cc's. run a 25" on the new saw and a 16 or so on the 2152.
    By the way, Welcome!

    This is the correct answer.

Once you get in to 70cc pro saw territory they are all pretty nice machines and it's hard to pick a "bad" one.

Yup, skip the 60cc and jump to a 70cc as long as you plan on keeping the 2152. Like lukem said, any of the pro saws are good, pick your favorite flavor.

Will this be a new or used purchase? And do you have a budget in mind?

I'm in agreeance here. I'd say get a 70cc class saw. You can easily run a 28" if need arrises.
I have a 50cc, 57cc and then 94cc. When I encounter large enough wood, the 94 comes out to reduce cut times. The 50 & 57 are too close in performance. If I had it to do over, I'd get a larger gap. But... I've found the 357 to be darn near the perfect firewood saw (it's ported, so consider it mid 60cc+ in power).

I use a 346XP with an 18" bar for most of my felling and limbing. It also rides in my "holster" on my skidding winch to lop of the occasional limb I may have missed. But when I'm on the log pile and want to cut some chunks up I go to the 372XP with a 24" bar. Tons of power and the longer bar gives me better reach with less bending.

As above, 70 cc class with 24" bar. Choose you favorite color and price, then get out and enjoy running it.

Great price on a great saw. I love mine.
However, $400 for a rebuilt 2172 leaves $575 in his pocket. As long as the local dealer will stand by his work that seems like a great way to go.

If you're a tall guy, put a 22-24" bar on it. as stated, keep the 50cc with a 16".
the longer bar will save your back when limbing a downed tree that you just annihilated.

I forgot the 7.6% sales tax......There's always that!.......I try and buy used as much as I can.....The 70cc saws and up will make short order of cutting time for sure and put a :) on your face! I really like my Stihl MS 460's for firewood!

2172 is a great saw with the best colors to boot. It will put a smile on your face!

I run a Stihl ms260 pro and just picked up a Stihl 038 super from a friend not quite the 70cc but it's pretty close.

Woodporn touched on a key point for me ................. bar length. I'm 6'3" and don't use anything less than 18" bars on my smallest saws (MS 241 and 026). I never cut anything more than about 8-10" with those saws before moving up the food chain (036 or 360). Its the extra back saving bar length that's the key.
