Yeah the wind is a bugger for sure. Im amazed at how well my 2 cf stove does at heating this house but I start loosing temperature around -25c with no wind. Im home off and on through the day so that makes a big difference I think. The reason I asked is because at 40f I have to be careful not to over load the stove otherwise it gets way to hot in here and the wife gets cranky.
Kinda does here too. Supposed to pick up tomorrow 21 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph., and get colder.
Upper 30's right now with rain dropping through the day with a 10-20mph blow increasing to 20-30mph and gusts to 50 by the afternoon changing to snow and carrying through tonight and tommorrow did I ever say that I hate wind? ... There! I said it! Oh yeah four small split load of ash, red maple and cherry last night for a chill buster 70F inside
It got up to 88 degrees here today. I gave up on splitting for a while and started again at 6 when it cooled down a little. 72 degrees now at 10:20pm. Got some more work to do tomorrow but it's going to be 86 with possible thunderstorms. Oh I'm not burning anything! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That's right, my family moved to Maine in 84, we lived on a dairy farm in Two Taverns while in G-burg...nice place to grow up.
Good morning -Current temp 31 headed to 39 with about an inch of wet, heavy white chit everywhere. Loaded the stove with a mix of birch ash and maple.
Got home from work 32°f decided to start the big empyre woke up 9°. Pumping out 180° water. Loaded both up with ash. Grabbed this during the last warm spell. Nice dropping standing dead trees as a lot of the branches break off when they hit the ground. Sent from my SM-G900R4 using Tapatalk
37º out, 72º in, had a partial load of ash in last night. Going to put some elm and beech in for the day as temps to fall all day to low 20's by 4 today. Wind is picking up as well. Burn baby, burn
It got down to 6° last night. Winds were blowing up to 35 mph. Burning extra gooder ironwood, shagbark, and beech in the quadrafire. The furnace only came on after I rechooched before leaving for work this am. Chili in the crock pot to help heat the house today. The house will be toasty and smell extra good when I arrive home.
It was 35 last night so we went with another load of Cherry, the temp never changed this morning (35) so I cleaned out some ashes and then loaded up with some Cherry.
40 yesterday , I cleaned out ashes, 16 now , 6am was 24 , load of ash in the box. Wind Speed W 25 G 36 mph Wind Chill -3 Low tonight 13
This has been the best storm this area has had in years, it's been raining pretty good here since yesterday evening....... 40°F outside and a nice and toasty 75° inside. The mountains are getting feet of snow and there was even an avalanche between Lake Tahoe and Reno that went across a highway and hit 3 cars no one was hurt.I'm at 5300' and the snow level is at 6000' right now.
We did not get the snow that was forecasted (I guess that means alot of weatherman are going to lose their jobs) but it never got above zero today and was windy all day long. Wind chills were right around -30 all day. Can't wait for night time.....
Well winter is back, lows are headed to the teen's and maybe a single digit here or there. And the news that had the grocery store parking lot completely filled, 1" maybe 2" of snow, so I should be snowed in for a few weeks.
Same here except only going down to 14 . Load of silver maple chunks a blazing and 73 inside (son and daughter telling me its cold in the house ... dang have I spoiled them). Love this weather and my fire!
