How much wood have you burned this season?

Not yet a cord and once I light, it burns 24-7 which in itself is a struggle when not fully loading-I have burned everything from ash to locust,, we set a high temp record on Xmas and it was 61 today so I'm on the cherry-supposed to get pretty cold this weekend, calling for low of 17...Its all good though-the stacks last longer but the other down side is even though I had a holiday today and serviced/sharpened up both saws,,,I'm living in a mud hole as far as cutting is concerned-hope to cut some on Sunday when I get back from a road trip...But I so love my $10.10 gas bills-thats my backup heat that hasnt been on and my cook stove and garage heat...thats our minimum bill and I like it!!!!

 

2-2.5 cord so far. I need to replace the pex from the boiler to the house, I can see bare ground where it runs, I never used to see that. I also burn year round so it is kind of hard for me to guess.

 

We've burned a little over a cord here. Only had one cold snap where the fireplace was running 24-7. The next cold snap is moving in tonight. We had a high of 49 today with 1/4" of rain. Tomorrow is supposed to be a high of 29 with 30mph winds...

 

That being said are your lakes firming up at all?

 

Are you finding it cooler weather this year? I know youre west of me but most of us are finding it cooler than the last two years but not bitter.

 

Hard for me to say but if I have to throw a dart at the wall Id say about 2 cords of lodgpole pine, doug fir, larch and birch with a sprinkling of spruce. Its been pretty cold in south eastern BC this winter but nothing to write down in the history books. I think the coldest Ive seen here this year has been about -30c/-22f. Weve had our share of days with highs of -18c/-0.5f so the wood stove keeps on chugging.

 

1/3 cord red maple left over from last year
1/3 cord pine
1/3 cord red oak

seems like a lot for only Nov/Dec but I guess not.
Haven't burned much HHO so far.

 

A little over 1 1/2 cord mostly seasoned maple, with some ash.
That's in an old earthstove insert.
Burned about 50gallons of hho b4 we bout the pellet stove. Used about 10 bags so far.

We both work, so stove gets stuffed in the morning, pellet stove is fully auto, kicks on late afternoon as needed once the woodstove dies down.
Sometimes have enough coals when I get home to get it going again (10hours ish).
Pellet stove kicks on as needed on colder nights.

 

I didn't keep track good enough this year, as I was trying to burn off the uglies and football chunks in the early season. I do know a 8 ft x 7.5 ft wall of wood came out of the shed during December alone, and maybe a 1/2 cord of uglies plus some random here/there wood and pallets. I'll say 1.5 cord? I probably have a pic or two of the shed so I can guess from the stack height.

 

A little over a cord here, mostly maple and poplar,some oak during cold snaps. Supposed to get cold later this week, this is my first season burning full time, love checking the gauge on the propane tank and seeing it has not moved in 4 weeks!

 

I can't believe I haven't tried to keep track...I'm a numbers nerd sometime. Did the calcs on the oil usage at the new house and the results were "burn more wood".

I've been burning the part of the pile that fell over from the previous owners. I'd have to say prolly .5-.75 a cord guesstimating.

 

Burned almost 4 - 40" square kiln baskets of shoulder wood in the stove .
IIRC I started the wood furnace on Dec 6 or 7th . Furnace room is a little over half full which is a little ahead of the game for normal winter weather. I usually refill out of the stacks out back but the snow and ice is deep in front of the pass through so I may use up the attached wood shed. It hasn't been completely emptied in prolly 6-8 years and there is nearly enough in there to last the rest of winter.
I have used a little more 'pane than normal due to work schedule.

 

Not a single stick yet....But hopefully that will change in the next 2 weeks! Closing is next week!

 

Maybe as much as 1/2 cord! Mild so far plus we've been gone for 10 consecutive days, so far. I'm thinking we'll get a freezing payback starting later in the week. Time will tell!

 

Burned about 1.5 cord so far. Ben having fires since nov 15. That number would be higher if i wasnt at work during the day. Been mighty cold and snowy here so far.

 

Yes, it is a colder winter, with lots more snow.

 

.75 of a cord. Seems like over the holidays we were not home much. Being at work all day doesn't help either. Cold to set in for a few days here.

 

I've burned about 1/3 of a cord, but I also haven't had a fire in about a week. It's been warm enough to use the heat pump, and I've been too busy with other projects around the house to bring in firewood.

Looks like tomorrow we'll be back into highs in the 20's (today it's 56) so I guess I need to bring in enough wood tonight to get me through the week.

 

.75 of a cord of ponderosa pine and doug fir. Snowfall has been below avg. (approx. 10" so far), temps about average.

 

I'm sitting at just about a cord. Almost through some partially punky oak, 3 yo cherry and maple then it's on to ash, oak and hickory.
