I'd start with the installer/dealer first. Explain your issues and that the install doesn't seem to meet the manufacturer's requirements.
If that doesn't work, go to the manufacturer and try to settle it through them.
If that doesn't work, go to your local building inspector or whoever in your town, township or county is responsible for ensuring compliance as well as the local licensing authority to file a complaint.
Lastly, have someone else fix the installation, get a receipt and take the installer to small claims court...

Kind of a pain in the azz to go through all that but if you don't, they'll do the same thing to someone else too...

Did they charge you a permit fee and inspection fee. I would want it inspected. Especially now seeing what they left behind. Can't see any inspector passing that

I would go to the inspector and request they come out to take a look and hopefully the install fails as it should and then you can go right back on the installer for the failed inspection and make them fix it. And I wouldn't pay them another dime since you paid to have it done correctly the first time.

At the very least Kevin, I would go out and purchase some high-temp aluminum tape, and tape up -all- the joints on that 90 elbow, and closely inspect that flue liner joint, and appliance adapter joint if you intend to keep burning, before a professional can come out to inspect your existing setup. (*Every seam on the 90 elbow here is fully wrapped, to prevent smoke seepage.)

    * I just took another (closer) look at that pic - I can see why the good folks here are upset w/ and concerned about the install.

Here in our area, any venting needs to be double-walled, or wrap shielded (insulated) from the stove exit -> up to the flue block plate. No exceptions, no exposed single-wall vent pipe is permitted in the living space.

(Not sure about the requirements in your area, but thought the info. may be useful to you.)

This just keeps getting worse. And how much was that they took you for. Call and insist on the inspection. Bring to their attention the issues you've had and let them know you're not happy with how it's vented. Show him the pic of my install which you should be able to find in your manual. Can you get a pic of the venting going up the chimney. I bet there's not block off plate installed either. If not then you're losing tons of heat up the chimney. If they're not willing rectify then go see inspector

I'm sure that inspection fee was worked in to the 750 you paid

This is what our setup looks like Kevin - stove adapter -> Duravent 3" appliance adapter -> 12" vent pipe -> 90 Elbow -> 12" vent pipe -> adapter plate collar within the flue block plate -> flex pipe above -> above the smoke shelf.

    * The flue block plate is secured with 'J' hooks, which hook onto the metal flue framework above / secure the block plate against the bottom of the metal flue assembly. (You can see one in the 1st pic on the 12" pipe exiting the stove, it is used as a support spacer, fabricated using 1/2" aluminum stock sourced from the local hardware store.)

We only use a 90 elbow here in the setup because there is not enough space to install one directly at the stove exit & keep the stove on the hearth, or in-place of the 90 elbow, just not enough clearance - and this requires us to disassemble the venting every 1/2 ton of pellets burned to clean.

It looks like you have enough clearance in your setup to install a proper cleaning T - highly recommend you do so.

    Hope this helps.

A 4" stainless chimney liner kit runs about $400. That's complete with everything you need to do the job. The oak doesn't need to be stainless. You can get a 4" alluminum liner kit for $100 at plumbers supply. All they did was run a pipe down the chimney and jimmy rig it to the back of the stove. If you are anyway mechanically inclined you can do this yourself if it comes to that

I stopped commenting on most installs sometime ago because they scared me and the owner really had no clue as to how bad they were. Why I looked at this one I haven't a clue (old age I guess).
