In the 25+ years I've been in the logging/mill industry I have owned exactly 1 POS saw and it wasn't a Stihl !!!!!
It was a Husky !
About 5 years ago my dad came out of retirement from logging and started up a couple of crews cuz he was board .He doesn't work on the crews just manages them , paper work, buys timber and sorts veneer logs. He wanted to buy a new saw for trimming and bucking an occasional veneer log and asked me if Stihl was still the best saw going. I said yes and reminded him of the POS I had bought years ago. He said yes and would buy a Stihl.
Well the eF'n dealer talked him straight into HUSKY.
Fast forward to a few years ago. His Lyme disease and age is catching up with him and he can't make more than a couple cuts with his saw before he's in serious pain. I've had to cut most all his wood the last few years due to this. The saw has never been right since day one. He's a master tuner and likes chit to run right and he's taken it to the dealer several times. The other day I had to pullon this POS 10 times to get it running. The next day more pulling and no starting. I've never pulled on a Stihl even flooded more than 6 times. I told him it was prolly frozen carb/gas and to put it in his basement for a couple days then and a little Isopro. He proceeded the next day to GO BUY ANOTHER NEW POS !!!! The upside is he sold the old one to one of the cutters on his crew for $100 less than what he paid for it 5 years ago.
Time is $ and if I wanted to spend it pulling on a saw I'd go buy a Pullon.

I like Stihl and Husqvarna. My father also had an old Mac I liked but I didn't know much about them then, just a teen ager. Come to think of it I still don't know much about saws.

 

What model was it...??
Frozen carb kept it from starting?
Did you put water in it?

Sounds like you got a lemon.
The one I bought a few years ago runs great, and I've only changed the plug and air cleaner (bar and chain too....another story).
Hmmmm.
I'd love a Stihl.

Sounds like you are dealing with the exception..not the rule ! Ive got a couple shelves of Husky's that will prove me right . Where I used to work.....we had a new Stihl 441 . The booger flooded all the time..wouldnt start..been back to dealer several times .....but still was never right .Just because the 441 was a pain...doesnt mean every Stihl was junk did it ?
Nope.....our Stihl 180 started and ran like a dream....whenever we needed it !!

 

I've never had an issue with Husky stuff. I like em a lot. I've always made a habit (prolly every guy here does the same) of dumping out the gas and letting them run til they quit… when I knew it would be a while before I used it again. And, in today's world, where those genius folks in Washington decided we had to grow corn to put in our gas tanks instead of our stomachs… the damage ethanol does to small engines of every color and stripe is becoming legendary.

 

I'm thinking justwood was just having a bad day...
Given enough time with a saw, I can make em run and behave just the way I want them to.. Even poulans..
Don't matter the brand, so I can use whatever kind I like...
Stihl's are #3 on my list, and it's not because they're junk, it's cause I like my Dolmars and husky's better...
And yes, I got a couple creamsickle's too...
Sorta hurts me to admit it though..

 

I like my Domars as well, but there is one Jonnyred and a old 075 Stihl hanging with the bunch The Jonny and a couple of 20+ year old Dolmars are the loaners.

 

Don't hold back, tell us how you really feel.

problem solving is a mans specialty. Ranting is a symptom of a problem. Problems cause stress & that's bad.

What's the problem.
I know some here on this site , someone on the team can make that saw run like a fine tuned POS
Or will gladly take it off your hands (for a good price or maybe a trade )

 

I have a small Husqvarna I need to dig into, wont stay running.
My 660 does that too...

Idle RPMS are fine, but it revs lower and lower over 10-15 seconds till it sputters out.
