I've had to heat stuff like that up to yellow just to drill holes in it......needless to say after a hole or two the bit needed sharpened or scrapped....

I rarely disfigure old tools to repurpose them. I'd rather collect them. The only one I felt bad about was the Oxweld one, but the collector value was only a few bucks.

I can't tell you how many pieces of "metal art" I've looked at that have stillson wrenches or old ice tongs all welded up in them.

Right. I gave up quick and welded threaded rods to the back to through bolt them to the beam.

Yes it's sad to see some of those old collectibles get used like that, but the way I see it, at least they're getting used again.....

My gift got sent to Michigan, not to Jersey. That may help narrow it down!

I think that will narrow it down twice.

I'd love to see the water powered mill in Honesdale, Pa also.

The Pa Lumber Museum is in Potter County, Pa

Brett , God works in unknown ways. I can really use both of them, but really needed one. Merry Christmas and God Bless.

Also, yes, I have dropped the tongs or poker before, both of us. One time in the mid 1990's WWW was stoking above our kitty that was laying on the carpet below the stove, yep, tongs slipped, thankfully did not fall on the cat, but a burning log did, poor kitty ran to the bedroom with singed hair still smoking leaving trail :picard:. Thank You, I was able to get a good sized split all the back into the hot stove :)
