The tree guy called me about an hour ago asking if I wanted some logs. I figured it was from the job last week that I picked up from. Well no, it was from a new job and he had a good sized dump truck full of oak. This is sitting in my front yard now...I hope this head cold gets kicked soon so I can start cutting and moving to the backyard before the wife starts lol. Sorry for the crappy picture.

Free Oak, what's not too like! I guarantee the best wood I get is when it's dropped off like that in my yard.....makes it eazy/peazy to process.....awesome!

Your gonna get a lot of oak from those guys I bet. Tom's River has a lot of oak in the area that are always coming out. Probably maple and cherry too. There is locust in the area but that stuff is in groves and not usually yard trees.

Oak is HANDS DOWN my overall favorite, having logs like that dumped right at your house? Well it just doesn't get much better than that.

    Merry Christmas brother!

    Merry Christmas everyone.

Here are some better pics. How much would you guess is there? I've never dealt with logs before. I'm guessing 1.5 cords?

    Yeah, that's a great score!
I'll take a WAG and guess 2.13 cords once split and stacked.

1/3 cord split and stacked. I'm guessing I'll end up with 2 cords from the load that was dropped off just before Christmas. I went thinner splits on the oak to see if I can cut down on the drying time. Hoping this burns nicely during winter 2018-19.
